Auditions for the NDA spring play will be held in the auditorium from 3:30-5 p.m. on February 27 and 28.

The name of the play for this year is Divine Stella Devine. Spanish teacher Crystal Dory will direct the play and describes it as “a very funny story about a theatre company that has a show opening in a few short weeks and everything is going wrong.”

Dory feels that this play is perfect for the NDA student body and cannot wait to begin work on it next week.

There is a cast of 17 people and a need for people to build the set, work with props, costumes, hair and makeup.

The plot of the play centers around a lead girl who is difficult to work with, and when a new character comes in to steal her role, even more drama is initiated.

With characters in the play fighting, others are trying to keep the theater company together, and little do they know, an undercover reporter is in their midst to write a story about it all.

To audition for the play, NDA students will need to come to auditions with a two to three-minute monologue prepared and be able to do cold readings from the play script.

Practices will begin the first week of March with practice every day of the school week through the first week of May. The shows will be Thursday, May 3, through Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m.

“I can’t wait to work with the students again on such a big project. I am most excited for everyone to come see it and be entertained,” said Dory.

She began directing the spring play last year but has loved theater her whole life. When the opportunity was given to her to direct at NDA, she “jumped right on it.”

Dory encourages anyone who is interested to come out and audition and feels honored to be a part of the NDA theatre productions.
