Junior Bella Brabazon, a member of the Tritones and participant in the NDA musical, will be attending Belmont University for a summer camp in singing.

“It’s a week-long intensive camp where we work with professionals to work on our voices,” explained Brabazon. Brabazon first heard of the camp when looking at Belmont’s website and program.

Brabazon was searching for camps and stumbled upon Belmont’s summer program for high school students looking to go further into singing.

Brabazon attended the camp last year as well, but the camp itself got more inclusive with more people interested in attending.

“It’s pretty hard to get into. A few thousand people send in a minute-long audition video and only about 75 people actually get in,” said the junior.

Brabazon applied to the camp again because of her passion for music and because of the great experience she had last year.

One component of the camp is singing in a choir and then moving into smaller auditioned ensembles as the week progresses. Another component is the competitive honor recital held at the end of the week.

“We sing solos to try to get one of the top 5 spots in the honors recital,” Brabazon explained.

While Belmont is only her destination for summer camp at the moment, Brabazon hopes to pursue music professionally.

“I hope to study Contemporary Vocal Performance or Music Business, and my dream school just happens to be Belmont,” said Brabazon.
