Senioritis Starting to Kick In for Seniors

It’s the fourth quarter and the seniors are ready to get out. Senioritis is starting to kick in.

“It’s getting really tough to stay focused plus it’s getting nicer out, so that makes it more difficult,”  said senior Matt Vandenhouten.

With spring break behind us, the seniors don’t have too much time left here at Notre Dame.  All the seniors are currently going on their senior retreats at St.Norbert College.

Some seniors are enjoying every moment that they don’t have to come in and do a regular school day. On April 3, Notre Dame does not have school in observance of Good Friday, and then April 9 is the school’s annual service day.

“I’m excited for this year’s NDA Serves. It’s a day out of school and we get to give back; it’s the best of both worlds,” said senior Jack Ritchay.

These last few months for the seniors is a special time as they are saying their goodbyes and getting ready to move on.

“It’s very bittersweet having my high school career come to an end. It’ll be really awesome to get out of here and be done, but also I will miss all the good people I’ve met the past four years at Notre Dame,” said senior Ty Yewman.

In past years when you’re not a senior, you can’t really imagine what it’s like being a senior and only wanting out. A lot of seniors do want out, but a lot of them also are enjoying the time they have left here at NDA.

Senior Bethany McCole said,  “Yeah, It’ll be nice to get out, but I’ve met a ton of great people, and it will be sad when we have to graduate and all move on and go our separate ways.”

In some cases it’s very easy to be a senior who knows where he’s going next year to get distracted and not want to do his work. Others say its business as usual; they still come in and get their work done.

The last two months for the seniors can be challenging, but with a little bit of help–like the senior retreats and service day–the wait to graduate can be made it easier. Other events like Academy Ball are coming up and school events like that always make the time here at NDA a little nicer, a little extraordinary.
