This fall Mr. Christian Dory joined his wife Crystal Dory in teaching at Notre Dame Academy.  He teaches English, history and math.

“He loves the classes he is teaching, and he thinks the students at NDA are awesome,” said Crystal Dory.

He described himself as “compassionate, loyal and inquisitive.”

Mr. Dory attended Crivitz High School, graduating in 1993. He received his masters degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for his graduate and undergraduate schools.

“My goals as a teacher are obviously the academic curriculum. But, I also want to instill in my students a solid foundation of civic duty, leadership, faith and the courage to be who they are,” he explained.

He has been teaching for 16 years, first in a Milwaukee public school, then at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as a teaching assistant. Dory recently taught for 12 years at Oconto Falls High School.

“He loves what he teaches, he is extremely dedicated to his work and his students, and he wants each student to succeed,” his wife said.

The opportunity to connect with the school and attend many sporting events excites Christian Dory.  On the other hand, he is not looking forward to taking time away from his many interests to grade all the paperwork.

“I am a great cook and just started a food blog called ‘Eating Green Bay’ on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I am absolutely passionate about traveling and photography. I have extensively traveled throughout 36 different countries,” said the newest Dory staff member..

“After serving in the U.S. Navy I was a little bit older when I went back to college. I found myself mentoring younger college students, and I found a lot of reward in that,” he also said.

He became a teacher because of the terrible teachers in his life; he wanted to be better than they were.

“I want my students to understand it’s not what you learn, but how you learn. If you can learn how to learn, you can learn anything,” he said.

“I am happy he works here, but I am also thrilled that NDA added another amazing teacher to this already stellar faculty,” said Crystal Dory.
