Recent Triton of the Week Jennifer Ai is a leader here at NDA as president of the Chinese Club and co-captain of the Math Team.

She also is a member of National Honor Society and the Chinese National Honor Society and continues to find time for woodwind ensemble and the NDA tennis team.

These activities have shaped me by helping me get to know people and get involved with more things,” said Ai. “It also allows me to explore more of my interests.”

“She is a deep thinker, brings up good points when we discuss, and always, always is on task,” said Mrs. Brown, her IB English teacher. “I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes in life.”

As far as being Triton of the Week, Ai was unaware.

”Mrs. Gerl had pulled me aside with Mr. Pekarek when I was having a Chinese Club meeting during lunch so I thought I was in trouble,” said Ai, “but it felt pretty surreal when I learned that I had been nominated as Triton of the Week because I never thought that I was going to be one, and I felt pretty thankful to Mr. Guyette for even nominating me for it.”

She hopes to be a role model for her peers.

“I hope that I can inspire them to also join various clubs and have fun with the learning process involved in finding what you love,” she said.

The process of selecting a student for this role is chaired by Mrs. Mrs. Jill Zamzow-Gerl, head of Student Services.  She solicits nominations from the various departments.

Teachers nominate students whom they believe are exemplary, hardworking and well-rounded as far as academics and extracurriculars. At the end of each month a drawing is held of the weekly winners to see who will receive a gift card.
