“My brother signed up to play rec soccer. He said he hated playing because no one would pass him the ball or play with him. So, he told my parents that he wanted to quit. Meaning, I had to fill in his position on the team. That day I scored 7 goals against a bunch of 7 and 8 year old boys and girls when I was only 5. The team had purple jerseys and they were my absolute favorite. Purple is my mom’s favorite color, so it always made me feel special and that I was making my mom feel proud. I even got to wear the number 1, which is the number I wear now. From that day on, I knew that I loved soccer and wanted to continue playing. My brother deciding to quit led me to the thing that I love the most. My mother was raising me to be a tennis player, and although she was disappointed I chose soccer, she’s pretty content now with my choice as I’m going to play college soccer.”
