“My favorite part of the Olympics is the sense of camaraderie throughout the teams with their own teammates as well as international competitors. Since they train at many of the same facilities, the Olympians know each other fairly well. When it comes to competition day, they are competing against people who have become some of their closest friends. For example, in curling, one of my favorite events to watch, the USA Men’s Team played Sweden in the Gold Medal Round. They are such good friends that two of the members of the Swedish Team flew to America for one of the American member’s wedding this past summer. Each team still brought their best to the match with the Americans coming out on top but in some ways it was a victory for both teams. I love how the Olympics brings people together with sports and competition while creating lasting relationships and probably unforgettable memories.”
