NDA football earned a spot into the third round of the WIAA Playoffs with a big win over number two seeded Kewaskum High School last Friday night.

Before the game, NDA athletic director Steph Mathu said, “They are undefeated, but we have a harder schedule and at this point in the year anyone can beat anyone.”

The Tritons battled the whole game with Kewaskum and in the end got the win.

The Tritons scored early with a three-yard rushing touchdown from Mickey Gregoire, who ended the game with 104 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

After the touchdown, Kewaskum responded with a long rush from the quarterback, putting the Indians up 7-6.

The Tritons responded two drives later with another rushing touchdown from Gregorie.

With 1:00 left until halftime the Indians marched down the field. The drive stopped, however, with a goal-line stand from the Triton defense which gave them momentum into the second half of play.

The entire second half was a big stalemate. Neither team could find the end zone until Notre Dame was on the move again.

But the drive would end around the 35-yard line with a missed field goal kick on fourth and 10.

Kewaskum fumbled the ball after this, and again their defense was up to the task of stopping the Tritons.

The Tritons then attempted a field goal which was blocked by the Indian defense, giving them a first and 10 from their own 20-yard line.

With only one minute and thirty seconds left on the clock Kewaskum took the ball at their own 15 after an interception.

The Indians drove down to the Triton 40 but then went four and out as the Triton defense held them back and secured another playoff win for the Tritons.

The Tritons are set to play the number one seeded West De Pere Phantoms on Friday night at seven. The game will be played at West De Pere.

The Tritons are hoping to secure a bid into the semifinals for the third year in a row while the Phantoms are looking to move to the fourth round for the first time in five years.
