Dance Review: The Good and Bad of Sweetheart Switch Dance

Danielle Lippert, Staff Writer, Advanced Journalism

The annual Sweetheart Switch Dance was held on February 6. It had a High School Musical theme, decorated by sophomores Lilly Brada, Ashlyn Fitzgerald, Trudy Quidzinski, Lily Schumacher and Kiki Kussow with the help of Frau Laaksonen. Over 500 tickets were sold for the dance.

I didn’t have a date this year, but instead I went with a group of friends. It’s always fun just getting to hang out with your friends and have fun. I got to take pictures with all of them, and I didn’t have to worry about a date at all.

After pictures, I went to my other friend’s house for dinner. We ordered Noodles and Company and Chinese food. How much better can you get for a dinner with your friends? We talked, laughed and told stories. I hadn’t had that much fun in a while.

When we arrived at the dance, not a lot of people were there, but it eventually filled up. I spent some of my time in the gym and some of my time on the dance floor. I probably would’ve been better off in the gym because I did not like the music choice. Either the songs were old or I had never heard them before. It’s kind of hard to sing along and dance to it if you don’t even know it.

After the dance, I stayed over at a friend’s house. What else do you do after a High School Musical-themed dance? Watch High School Musical, of course!

I’ve had better dances, but I’ve also had worse. Overall, I had an amazing time with all of my best friends by my side.
