Senior Comment: Taking a Look Into the Future

Senior Comment: Taking a Look Into the Future

As spring break concludes, there comes the realization to seniors and their families how quickly things are ending and that there is not much time left before seniors are going to start the next chapter of their lives after high school.

It seems like just yesterday we were walking into Notre Dame Academy for our first day of high school. Now, soon enough, we’ll be walking across the stage accepting our diplomas and ending our high school careers.

As the four years we have together ends, most people take time to look back on their high school careers and think of the many good and bad things that happened over this long period of time.

I find myself thinking more and more about the things I wish I had appreciated more over the years, such as the sporting events, especially the football games. The intense, positive atmosphere at a Notre Dame Academy football game, when it’s still warm out and the sun is setting, is something that can’t be beat.

You always hear parents or recent graduates talk about how fast high school goes. Yet, you really can’t believe them until you experience it yourself. When you start to realize how fast it actually does go, and how close you are to graduating, that’s when reality starts to sink it.

To the senior class of 2018, as our time to say goodbye nears, we need to make the days count. Even though we might be saying goodbye, make new friends, fix old friendships, thank your teachers, find your voice and live life to the fullest.

To the underclassmen, I’m sure you hear it all the time, but I hope you hear it until it starts to sink in; time flies, especially high school. It sounds really cheesy and you might not think it’s true, but high school really is the best time of your life. You are able to experience so many things you want to do, rather than after high school when you have to decide what you like and want to do for a career. So enjoy whatever time you have left. Go to as many sporting events, musicals, dances and everything you can.

I promise you, you won’t regret it.
