Offseason Training in Full Swing for Football Team

The 2015 offseason training has started for the Notre Dame Triton football team. This past season the Tritons finished 7-2 and lost in the first round of the playoffs.

The offseason program that the Tritons do is very different than what other schools in the area do. In the offseason the Tritons stay busy with many different workouts that Coach A. J. Giovanni has planned for them.

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday the team works out in the weightroom after school. The team usually starts that workout schedule a few weeks to a month after the previous season ended.

When the team comes back from winter break is when the workouts get really interesting, and the boys start to come together as a team and put in a lot of hard work.

The first Monday the team comes back they gather in the weightroom to lift. They start what’s called their “speed training program.”

The speed training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. Not after school, before school starting at 6:30 a.m. This usually takes place in the big gym and they do many different speed workouts and conditioning.

It’s easy to say when the team comes back from winter break they have their hands full with football workouts every single day of the week.

Junior Vinny Pallini, who started both ways for the Tritons last season said, “The team is really coming along.  Good work from everybody so far.”

Vinny is working hard to have another standout year on both sides of the ball. For the Tritons the speed training seasons go on until February. Then most of the players do a spring sport, and if they don’t, they are back in the weight room lifting as a team.
