Saturday Notre Dame girls and boys varsity teams will be participating in the state championship meet in Wisconsin Rapids.

The race is at the Ridges Golf Course. The boys race at 1:10 and the girls at 3:05.

The boys racing are senior Charlie Sauter, juniors Reid Milton, Owen Brummel, Howie Gerstner and Adam Homel and freshmen Adam Brada and Conner Hawley.

The girls that will be running are seniors Jenna Cuene, Kayla Hawley and Courtney Ledvina, junior Bella Zingler-Hoslet, sophomores Molly Desotell and Katya Geyer and freshman Abby Haase.

“Our kids have done everything we could ask to earn their shot. They represent Notre Dame with class and run as a team,” said Coach John Gard.

The teams have been training since April. Many of the varsity runners have been on the team for years, but for some runners this is their first year.

The runners leave Friday afternoon and spend the night in Wisconsin Rapids. They bond and get the nerves out before the big race.

The team rides down in a coach bus filled with runners from the team. Many runners not riding the bus drive down with friends and family to support their team.
