Athletic Teams Returning to Utilize NDA Facilities

Over the past week NDA has slowly allowed NDA athletic teams to begin returning to NDA and utilize the facilities.

Teams included, but not limited to, are football and basketball.

The basketball team is hoping that the virus will calm down by the time the season rolls around in the coming months.

The Tritons lost in the playoffs to Kaukanna right before the oncoming COVID-19 pandemic.

NDA senior Hogan Anderson weighs in on the uncertainty of the upcoming season.

“ We can not control whether we play or not. We can control how hard we work on the court and as a team, and we hope that we will be able to play.”

The basketball team is losing 5 seniors from last year’s team so there are open spots to fill to build off a massive improvement from Alexander’s first year as coaching.

But the Tritons are bringing back George Kress,, Garrett Grzesk and Chris Mitchel, all of whom earned all-conference honors.

Kress also mentioned, “All of us are excited to get back to work and get a chance to play again.”

Another sport returning to campus is football.

Football’s season moved to the alternate spring season only hours before their opener versus  Kaukauna.

NDA senior Will Zellner said,  “It’s going to be great to get back in the building and see familiar faces. I’m excited to push myself and others and also get the team camaraderie back up.”

Football received their schedule last week, which included four Saturday games and a Wednesday game as well.

Speculation continues, of course, on whether the season will happen due to the ongoing pandemic.

The last time the Tritons took the field was over a year when they put together the worst season in school history and missed the playoffs for only the second time in school history.

The Tritons will be playing a plethora of teams including Kewaunee and Stoughton.

Unlike a typical season, the schedule includes no Friday night games.
