Caden Capomaccio will forever remember the time he spent in Notre Dame Academy’s South Commons room last Friday at 3 p.m.

It was there that Capomaccio signed a national letter of intent to the University of Minnesota baseball team.

Capomaccio, who has been playing baseball for the majority of his life, thanked all who helped him get where he is today in his speech.

“I want to thank all the coaches that have coached me throughout my baseball career. You guys have played a big part in my success as an athlete. Finally I want to thank my family for everything they have done for me and supporting me through the years,” Capomaccio said in his speech.

Capomaccio, who can pitch a 93 mph average fastball, has been a starting pitcher of NDA’s varsity baseball team since freshman year, a “feat within itself,” according to head coach Jared Barker, who said he was “undoubtedly our number one on the roster by the end of the season.”

“The first time I met Caden, it was in 7th or 8th grade, he came to my summer camps, and you could just tell by watching him play catch that he was going to be special. He was going to be a great kid to have in the program,” reminisced Barker.

Barker went on to recount Capomaccio’s NDA pitching career, speaking on the recognition he has received since playing for NDA.

“He collected some recognition last year, which included Unanimous First Team All-Conference and First Team All-District, and he had some WBCA Wisconsin All-State Honors, which is a first here in my ten years of coaching. So I’m awfully proud of you for that,” said Barker.

Capomaccio had offers from several prestigious schools, but ultimately settled with University of Minnesota.

“I chose Minnesota because of the success of the baseball program over the last 40 years. I also believe that the coaches there will develop me into the best player I am capable of being. The University of Minnesota’s academic program is rigorous and will effectively prepare me in my intended career path,” explained Capomaccio.

Capomaccio has a bright future in baseball ahead of him, one that all of NDA will be watching proudly.
