After their win last Friday, the Notre Dame football team is one win away from clinching a spot in the state championship game.
The #2-seed Tritons defeated the #1-seed Blackhawks by a score of 28-6 to claim the sectional championship.
The Notre Dame fans traveled well to see their undefeated Tritons continue to the final four of Division Three.
Christian Collins lit up the field once again with 332 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
Late in the first half, Flanigan received a 22-yard touchdown pass from Collins to make the score 20-6.
Nick Gruesen split the uprights with all four of his extra-point attempts.
The Triton defense held strong, only allowing the Blackhawks two field goals.
Notre Dame has won three football state titles since 1990, and this year’s team is looking to make it four.
“Obviously, I am very excited, but honestly we all expected to be here,” explained Triton quarterback Max Pierce. “We still have a tough round 4 game ahead of us, but a good week of practice should help us get the job done. I’m excited to prove who we are and to make the people proud.”
The Tritons will take on the three-seed La Crosse Logan at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School next Friday at 7 p.m.
If the Tritons win next week, they will face the winner of Catholic Memorial vs. Wisconsin Lutheran in the state championship game at Camp Randall Stadium on November 22.
