The Senior Dance, back for this year’s Academy Awards, hit the stage right before the Q & A session of the show.

The dance was choreographed, organized, and coached by seniors Naya Coppens, Morgan Eberhart and Ethan Crane.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the show this year, and we’re all excited to go perform and have a good time on stage,” said Crane. prior to Saturday night.  Coppens made a similar comment:  “This performance will be very exciting and entertaining as our seniors will bring a great show.”

Dressed in Christmas garb, the 20+ dancers did a routine that included lifts, tumbling and a kick line.

Arranging practice times when so many could be together was a challenge for the three organizers, and another challenge was finding dance moves that everyone could properly  execute.

“I’m really impressed with the commitment people have put in to show up to rehearsals. A lot of the dancers also don’t have very much dance experience, but they’ve been very willing to step outside their comfort zones a little bit,” said Crane.

“I love that we’re all able to get up there and just have fun,” said senior Addie Weiss. “Being seniors, it’s so much easier to just let go without worrying about what people think.”

Senior dancers wore Christmas garb, much of which was the ever-present “ugly Christmas sweater.”

“We figured it would be a great way to kick off the first weekend in December,” said Eberhart in discussing the Christmas theme

“I’m really impressed with the commitment people have put in to show up to rehearsals. A lot of the dancers also don’t have very much dance experience, but they’ve been very willing to step outside their comfort zones a little bit,” said Crane.
