With the end of third quarter approaching, many of NDA’s clubs and organizations have been increasingly busy, including the NDA band.
The Future Triton Band program, started in 2022 by ‘23 alumni and band member Madeline Tricarico, has continued to be successful.
The program gives band students at GRACE middle schools throughout Green Bay the opportunity to play with high school musicians and experience being in the pep band at a sports game.
The most recent event was on Tuesday, January 30, when the boys’ basketball team played against Manitowoc Lincoln.
The students arrived at school early for pizza, a chance to meet the band director, Mr. Steve Johnson, meet current band students and practice the music they played at the game.
The band will also be playing at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade downtown on Sunday, March 17.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on the City Deck and will feature many high school bands throughout the area and highlight Irish culture in Green Bay.
NDA’s Jazz Band has also been busy and recently played at UW-Steven’s Point’s annual Jazz Festival.
The Jazz Festival includes talents from all over the state and country, including headliners from New York.
NDA’s Jazz Band practices before school and plays a variety of different jazz music. It is composed of 16 band students.
The school bands’ Early Spring concert is Monday, February 19. The concert will include both the regular band concert and pieces performed by the Jazz Band.
