Eliza Campbell Adds ‘Classroom Teacher’ to Coaching Role at NDA

Among the many new teachers at Notre Dame Academy this school year is Ms. Eliza Campbell, a graduate of the school, daughter of Mrs. Julie Campbell, and assistant coach for the girls basketball team.

“Those of us who taught Eliza, yelled for her in sports and appreciate all she has done as a coach are thrilled to have her here every day. She knows Notre Dame inside out having gone to school here and subbed for us. The kids will love her,” said veteran English teacher Carolyn Brown.

Campbell, who played basketball at UW-Oshkosh, graduated with an education degree in social studies and has done teaching stints at De Pere and Kimberly. Coaching basketball at NDA, she found out about the opening here and pursued the position.

As one of the all-time leading basketball scorers at NDA, many of her interests lie with sports. She was also a track standout during high school. Thus, not so coincidentally, teaching physical education is on her daily schedule along with computer applications and social study.

Like every teacher, she has her own teaching style.

“I like to do something different every day if I am able to. I make a goal every year to make the students feel comfortable with me,” said Ms.Campbell.

School, thanks in part to her teaching mom, has been enjoyable to Campbell since childhood. She admits, however, she did not like the homework.

Throughout her education she enjoyed seeing the impact teachers had on other individuals.

I am very excited to have Eliza working at NDA,” said her mother, the veteran social studies teacher. “The NDA community has always been a big part of her life, so it is awesome to have her on staff as a teacher as well as a coach.”

Her advice to her daughter?   Be herself.
