Senior Sydney Schroeder is apprenticing at the LedgeCrest Reserve.
Schroeder got her apprenticeship by participating in the Career Explorations Program headed by Mr. Christian Dory.
“I participated in this course because I was thinking about my future and wanted to start looking for a job that was not your normal 9-5,” said Schroeder.
She was looking for a job that she would truly be passionate about and excited to work at every day.
Schroeder’s favorite part about the class is learning things that are useful for the future.
“We learn about things that will make us successful in our future workplaces, such as how to manage money, and more,” said the senior.
At the LedgeCrest Reserve, Schroeder works on taking inventory for the place, so they are fully stocked for events, and schedules other employees in apps.
“I just turned 18 in February, so I now bartend certain events,” she said.
Schroeder works Monday-Friday from the end of 5b class to about 3-5 p.m. depending on when her sports practices are.
She loves her job since every day is “completely different and fun.”
“I am forever thankful to my employer, Alliey, for giving me this opportunity to learn so much from her,” said Schroeder.
If she had to advise students, it would be to keep an open mind.
“Sometimes it can feel like you are going in circles, and the class is boring, or you don’t know what you want your internship to be,” said the senior.
Schroeder highly recommends this class because students will be a step ahead of their other classmates.
This fall, she will be attending the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. She plans to play lacrosse there and major in business and entrepreneurship with a minor in marketing in Spanish.
“Even if you don’t find the right internship, at least you know you understand what you don’t like,” said Schroeder.
