Phone-a-Thon Needs Callers on Mondays & Tuesdays in October
October 3, 2019
The Phone-a-Thon tradition, which has been around as long as NDA, continues and is looking for volunteers.
Mrs. Claire Teitz, the Phone-a-Thon organizer, said, “Phone-a-Thon’s primary goal to raise funds to make up the difference in Notre Dame Academy’s operating budget between tuition payments and other endowments and the cost of running the school.”
Every NDA student benefits from this, she emphasized, because it “lowers the cost of everyone’s tuition by more than $3,000 per student.”
Phone-a-Thon will be conducted nine Monday and Tuesday nights in October from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. October 14th will be skipped due to the Monday night Packer game.
“That is a few weeks shorter than last year, so it’s important to get volunteers to call every night,” said Teitz. “We’ve already had two days of calling and ASTRA and Sting Cancer did a great job!”
Phone-a-Thon nights still need to be filled. ASTRA calls every Monday night, so members can sign up outside of Mr. Kriegl’s office. The girls’ golf team will be calling on October 22 and Student Government on October 29.
“Of course, any day you are available, we would love to have you even if you are not a member of the group calling that night,” said Teitz.
October 8 and 15 are still open and any individuals or groups interested in volunteering can send Mrs.Teitz an email at [email protected]. If volunteers can not make the whole event, they “would still love to have you.”
This year, all calls will be made from the South Commons where the evening begins with a short training session and a pizza dinner.
“We award prizes every night for the most yes and no donations, the most money raised and the highest donation,” said Teitz. “Anyone who comes to a calling night gets an entry in a drawing at the end of Phone-a-Thon for a $100 VISA gift card.”
Participants will call current parents, alumni and people who have donated to Phone-a-Thon or the President’s Spring Appeal in the last five years.
“That’s more than 3,000 calls that need to be made every year,” said Teitz. “In two nights, we made about 600 calls, so we have lots to go!”
