This month brings another of Notre Dame Academy’s many spring traditions, the Pancake Run/Walk on Wednesday, April 24.
The fundraiser will be held at the NDA track.
The premise of this run/walk is to raise money while still having fun and getting exercise. The participants will run for 20 minutes and then have the chance to get pancakes and other breakfast foods made by the event’s organizer–math teacher Bryan Konshak, and his family.
Anyone can sign up. Some teachers are even offering extra credit.
You can sign up by scanning one of the flyers advertising the event around school and filling out your information on the sign-up form. The sign up and t-shirt fee is $20 with a deadline of April 12.
Konshak had the idea for the fundraiser years ago. He had a talk with Mr. McGowan where they brainstormed and scrapped some ideas. Eventually they settled on pancakes to be the incentive and base of the fundraiser.
“What can you do to get people to show up?” said Konshak about his thought process when coming up with the fundraiser idea. This year he has decided chocolate chip pancakes will be available.
Mr Konshak believes that being the organizer of this fundraiser is “a way for me to give back.”
“I’ve participated every year, and it’s fun to be out there together doing something with students and staff that benefits others,” said one teacher. “Konshak never disappoints. He has a heart of gold when it comes to serving others.”
All proceeds from the event will go to the NDA Closet, which helps NDA students with such needs as lunch, uniforms, extracurricular activity fees and tutoring.
