Last week NDA’s pro-life club, the Lifeguards, organized their second diaper drive.
They held a week-long competition where first-hour classes were asked to donate diapers, and the class with the most diapers won a breakfast.
Everything started a year ago when an NDA parent asked if NDA would be interested in collecting diapers for the Big Hearts Baby Drive. The club asked the NDA’s fundraising committee for permission and took their opportunity to make a difference once approved.
“I am enthusiastic by NDA’s support in the diaper drive. It was an amazing experience in raising over 10,000 diapers. We filled the diaper room of the Alexandrina Pregnancy Resource Center,” said Fr. Jordan, school chaplain and adviser of the club.
The winner of the competition was Spanish teacher Diane Mulroney’s Honors Spanish lll class.
The class agreed to wait until the last day to bring diapers. Four students in particular took the initiative: AJ Broullier, Alex De Jesus, Zinash Ham and Owen Schwarden.
“These students are an inspiration to me and have shown incredible initiative and generosity,” said Mulroney.
