For the last week, outside the Atrium has been under construction, and work will continue through November.
“The current work at the school’s entrance is part of the infrastructure renewal and security upgrades that are mentioned in our strategic plan Investing in the Future,” said President Tom Kiely.
Details of the project are the “planters” will be lowered one level, a third “planter” will be installed in front of the entrance, a new “bank” of doors will be installed around the atrium for it to be one secured singular space, a security system will be added to the check-in desk and other security features will be installed in the general area.
“This will all be completed by November, and the external area will receive new stonework in the spring,” added the president.
The third “planter” creates a uniform barrier and visual look for the school. The school can only be approached on foot.
Mr. Adam Rudar’s room has been under construction as well and will be completed in October. This is the first classroom renovation, a kind of “model classroom” as plans are underway to re-develop portions of the school.
“The classrooms are being categorized depending on their age and what is needed for them,” said Kiely.
Not all the classrooms will end up looking like Mr. Rudar’s.
The future remodels will come with time, depending on the funding sources.
The point of remodeling these classrooms is to “replace old heating systems, upgrade electricity and technology for current and future use, modernize the furniture and develop a thematic color scheme,” added the president.
