This year Student Government has taken a fresh approach to planning school events.
The focus this year is to bring fun and engaging activities throughout the entire semester instead of just one week.
Student Government is divided into four branches: executive, outreach, senate, and academy fans. Although all of the branches contribute to improving NDA by providing student input, the executive branch is primarily responsible for overseeing events.
The executive board, consisting of 16 students such as all-school officers and class presidents, plays a critical role in organizing and planning school-wide events.
“Each member is responsible for ensuring no detail is overlooked no matter how small,” said Crystal Dory, an adviser for Student Government.
Planning began in July and August of last school year to ensure every aspect was carefully throught out in order to provide memorable experiences for students.
“We are always planning far in advance for school-wide events. We want them to be fun and different each year,” Dory explained.
One major change this year was the extension of Fall Fest Week to a semester-long celebration. The “sprinkled in treats” for the student body include dress-down days, fun activities, food days and school-wide competitions.
All of these events will be spread out through the semester to give students something to look forward to before finals.
“We thought it would be better to have it spread across the semester rather than just one week. It makes the semester more fun and builds up to finals,” Dory added.
A notable adjustment was made to the beloved De La Baie Fest which is traditionally held in the spring. Due to schedule conflicts, the event will now be held on Friday, October 4, under the new name “Harvest Fest.”
“We try to be as flexible as possible and bring fun events to students. We did not want things to be canceled,” Dory emphasized.
Student Government tries their best to be innovative and bring opportunities to students.
The student body can expect a semester filled with fun activities that will raise school spirit and make the semester a great experience.
