English teacher Andrea Gilson has once again been nominated for the Golden Apple Award.
‘’It is such an honor to be considered for this award. I truly love what I do and would not change it for the world,’’ said Gilson.
The Golden Apple Award honors outstanding and creative educators in the Green Bay area.
Gilson, a Notre Dame alum, has been teaching for 19 years. This is her fourth time being nominated for the Golden Apple. Just last year she was named the Influential Theater Educator of the Year at the Center Stage Awards.
Inspired to become an English teacher by NDA’s legendary Father Gilsdorf, Gilson also works long hours beyond the classroom as musical director.
This is her ninth year directing the musical.
‘’When I received the opportunity to direct the musical, I was thrilled to take on this new challenge. Since then each musical has held a different place in my heart,’’ said Gilson.
Overall she loves teaching and finds it as one of the most rewarding jobs.
‘’My favorite part of my job is seeing what amazing things my students accomplish in the future. I love seeing my students become inspired and find confidence in their abilities,” she said.
