Notre Dame welcomes a new staff member, NWTC Admissions Advisor Grace Hucek, whose role is to assist students preparing for college.
“I do academic and career exploration/planning, applying to NWTC, clarifying the admissions process and FAFSA & scholarship assistance,” Hucek explained.
Hucek has been working in this role for almost two years.
Before working for NWTC, she was an Academic Advisor at Mid-State Technical College.
Her experience is also matched by her enthusiasm for helping students succeed.
“I’m passionate about helping students achieve their academic and career goals. No question is too small,” she said.
As a first-generation college student, Hucek brings a personal connection to her work.
“I remember feeling a little lost and unsure as I tried to navigate the college admissions process,” she shared.
Her goal is to help simplify every step of the college admissions process so students graduate high school with confidence about taking the next step.
Her position is part of NWTC’s embedded advisor’s program.
“NWTC had an embedded role at NDA,” said College Counselor Becky Bain in Student Services.
An NWTC employee works on-site at our school once or twice a month to meet with students attending technical college after graduation.
“In this endeavor, NWTC and Student Services partner together to help students with their career and post high-school plans,” said Bain.
Hucek visits Notre Dame every other Thursday throughout the school year and will visit next on the 5th and 19th of December.
