Many people haven’t heard of a new activity that will be taking over the United States before you know it. This new, fun, exciting and mysterious new activity is called an escape room.

We’ll be getting one in Green Bay in mid-May at 2108 S. Ridge Road.  It will be called Breakout Green Bay.

Room Escape originated as an app, and the app inspired people to make it an actual thing. You’re locked in a room for 60 minutes. You have no instruction, no clues and no key. Well, you don’t have the initially.

My family had the opportunity to do an escape room at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. We didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into, but it was one of the best times I’ve had with my family.

We were locked in the room, an employee with us. We were given few instructions: the items with green stickers aren’t clues, there are no clues in the ceiling, and you have 60 minutes.

The time started, and we had no clue what to do. We started taking things off walls and lifting objects up, just hoping to find a clue. Within minutes we were able to get an idea of what we were doing and what everyone’s strengths were.

I can honestly say that was the fastest hour of my entire life. Before we knew it, we were out of time, and we were still in the room. The employee had helped us out a few times, and she had thought we would get out of the room. She walked us through what we had left, and if we had had another two minutes, we could have gotten out.

As disappointing as it was to not get out of the room, it was still a ton of fun, and I can’t wait for the one in Green Bay to open.
