Soccer Season Kicks Off for Lady Tritons
April 6, 2015
It’s soccer season again! Tryouts recently finished, and both teams spent the past week training for when the season’s games kick in.
Coach Nick Browne has been training the JV girls for their first home game which was supposed to be Tuesday. However, it was recently cancelled due to an accidental double booking of the field.
Coach Bob Rickards and Coach Brian Gerondale have been training the varsity girls for their first away game Tuesday.
The girls have been running 120’s, practicing defensive drills and playing the passing game Barcelona to prepare for the upcoming games. The teams have scrimmaged each other, and are already showing improvement. The teams are also beginning to form that important element for winning—team bonding.
Claire Sievert, one of the JV players, shares this about the experience so far: “I like it because all of the people are so nice and supportive. Everyone includes everybody, and it’s like we’re forming one big family.”
As soon as the season kicks up, both the JV and Varsity girls will be playing home and away games.
The JV home game with Luxemburg-Casco on April 7 will be rescheduled for the following Wednesday or Thursday. The Varsity plays at Appleton North High School at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7.
