The Notre Dame Academy girls basketball team, three-time defending state champions in Division Two, fell to the runner-up Pewaukee Pirates 60-52 Saturday afternoon.
Last season at this time, Pewaukee also defeated Notre Dame in the season opener.
“It’s a great game to start the year off because it shows you what you need to work on. It gives us a lot that we learned that we need to get better at,” said Head Coach Sara Rohde in an NBC 26 interview.
The Pirates were led by 2025 twins, Amy and Anna Terrian, who combined for 38 points in the win.
Senior Trista Fayta led the way for the Tritons with 19 points.
“There are so many things to grow from. We still have a whole season to learn from it. It’s all right. We are just going to keep our heads high,” she said.
Next week, the Tritons will stay home and take on Manitowoc Lincoln to continue the quest for their fourth consecutive gold ball.
Undoubtedly, Pewaukee will be aiming once again to take down the Lady Tritons.
