The Triton football team is 2-0 and looking to stay undefeated vs the Sheboygan North Golden Raiders at Ted Fritsch Field this Friday night.
Due to the Packers season opener in Brazil at 7 pm, the game has been moved to 4 p.m.
The Notre Dame students and fans have shown up well in the last two games. Hoping for the same thing on Friday, Student Government and Academy Fans have put together a pep rally in the gym at the end of the school day that will hopefully lead students right down to the game after the bell.
“They have shown the most enthusiasm we’ve ever seen in the student section. They have been giving off tremendous energy to propel us to win,” said senior Bryson Pappas.
Both the Tritons and the Raiders are 2-0 on the season.
The Tritons have been part of two defensive battles where they pulled off a 16-13 win over Kaukauna and a 7-3 win over De Pere.
The Raiders offense has been hot in their first two games, shutting out Kewaskum 36-0 and West Bend East 48-0.
The Raiders are led by senior quarterback Tyler Konrad who has four rushing and one passing touchdown in their two games played. Konrad also does the kicking for the Raiders.
Despite missing Week Two of the season due to his brother’s wedding, Notre Dame kicker Nick Gruesen leads the team in points.
He had a perfect game where he attempted and made three field goals and one extra point vs Kaukauna in Week One.
Additionally, brothers Christian and Jack Collins lead the Tritons with one touchdown each.
“We are looking forward to the match-up on Friday,” said Gruesen. “This will be one of the better opponents we will play in a while.”
