The Triton football team is undefeated at 8-0 and 6-0 for the Fox River Classic Conference, which ranks them at number one in the state in Division III.
They are looking to keep their undefeated record as they take on the Oshkosh North Spartans on Ted Fritsch Field Friday night.
Senior Christian Collins leads the Tritons with 1,135 rushing yards and 17 total touchdowns for the season.
Senior Charlie Hornacek leads his team with 17 receptions this season. The senior has committed to continue his football career at University of Minnesota-Duluth after graduation.
This final game is also senior night for the boys, which they are all very excited about.
“Senior night is such a bittersweet moment; it’s a celebration of all the hard work we’ve put in over the years, but also a reminder that this chapter is coming to a close,” said senior running back Bryson Pappas.
He is also looking forward to the emotions of the night–celebrating with his teammates, reflecting on their journey together and cherishing the memories they’ve made.
The main goal from the start has been making a run for state. After this game, they will be entering the playoffs which is when everything is on the line and there is a shift in their attitudes.
“I’m eager to see how we perform under pressure and how we can come together as a team to face these challenges,” added Pappas.
As for the game itself, the seniors haven’t played Oshkosh North in their four years.
“I think the chance to play a new team is cool, and it should be a fun experience. It is like a playoff style game before the playoffs,” said senior Andrew Rader.
They know what to do based on what they’ve practiced all week, so now it’s up to them to do their jobs like any other team.
