Adviser’s Note: Journalism I students interviewed Peyton Musial on the day of her signing. . . two of the 20 stories are posted here.
Peyton Musial has been a key player on the NDA girls basketball team since her freshman year and as a senior is ready for the upcoming season.
Committed to college, Musial recently signed a letter of intent with the University of Alabama Birmingham to continue her basketball career.
“Academically, athletically, and culturally, they were the best fit for me,” said Musial.
It will be an interesting year for the team as they have been moved up to Division 1 in the state due to the new WIAA competitive balance policy.
Musial had her best statistical season of her career last year, averaging 13 points per game while shooting 60% from the field.
“I feel that my confidence has grown,” said Musial when discussing her freshman season to her senior season.
Musial has played for the Wisconsin Flight AAU team, trained at the Driveway and been working in the weight room to prepare for the upcoming season.
Musial recently set a girls school record for hang cleans in the weight room.
Now the face of Notre Dame basketball, Musial will look to lead the Tritons back to the Resch Center with a chance for another championship.

*******************************
Peyton Musial is signing with the University of Alabama Birmingham on a basketball scholarship.
Musial started playing basketball at 6 years old at the YMCA. Basketball isn’t the only sport she has played. She also played tennis, soccer, volleyball, and gymnastics.
Musial eventually learned that basketball was her favorite sport and has stuck with it.
She has a trainer that she works with and uses the basketball hoop in her backyard to make her skills better.
“I go to The Driveway and use the shooting cages and work with a trainer there,” said Musial.
However, she wouldn’t be where she is today without her parents’ support.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents. They are my biggest supporters,” said Musial.
She always looks for them in the stands before every game and waves to them.
Musial is excited for this season to prove that NDA is the same as it has always been.
“People have been saying that we won’t be the same, but we have good people coming in who are ready to work hard. Our main goal is to just win games,” said Musial.
Musial is excited to see what the future holds for her and is glad to be a part of something great. ——Evelyn D’Angelo
