Senior Christian Collins has officially committed to the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) to continue his football career.
“I decided on UNI because of the level of football they play and also the coaching staff. I felt that the coaching staff had a very good plan of what they wanted to do with the program as a new coaching staff,” he said.
While Collins had offers from Holy Cross and Dayton, his decision to commit to UNI was solidified during his visit.
“I knew as soon as I left, it would be the place I wanted to be,” he shared.
His signing is scheduled for Friday, February 21, at 2:30 p.m., marking an important milestone in his athletic career.
In his time at Notre Dame Academy, Collins highlighted winning the 2024 state championship as his proudest team accomplishment.
Individually, his achievement as the #5 all-time rusher in Wisconsin history stands as a defining moment in his high school career.
Collins plans to major in Business Finance with a focus on investments.
However, his ambition on the field remains just as strong.
“My ultimate goal for football is to become the best running back in the FCS,” he stated. FCS is Division I-AA.
Inspired by NFL star Christian McCaffrey, Collins has been playing football since the sixth grade, and was originally a starting wide receiver before transitioning to running back.
As he prepares for the next chapter in his career, Collins is grateful for all the support he has received along the way.
“I want to thank everyone who has been there for me, from my coaches to my family and teammates, “ he said.
With a determined mindset and a clear vision for his future, Collins is ready to make an impact at UNI, both on and off the field.
