Morgan Gokey, NDA senior, recently committed to Hamline University to further pursue her basketball and academic career.
Gokey chose Hamline, located in St. Paul, because of the relationships she started to make with her coaches and teammates.
“Everything fell into place, and I decided to commit to Hamline,” said Gokey on her decision.
Gokey has been playing basketball since second grade. She has been part of a travel basketball program in the spring and summer seasons called the Purple Aces throughout high school.
Gokey couldn’t be more excited about her next chapter,
“I feel really strongly that this was the right decision for me, and I cannot wait to get started,“ she said.
Love for basketball in Gokey’s mind comes from how challenging it is and how it forces her to push herself to become better.
“There is something about being on the basketball court that just feels right to me,” said the senior guard.
NDA has helped Gokey learn how to balance sports and school as a two-sport athlete. Prioritizing and time management are both skills she has learned.
As for the girls’ basketball program, “The NDA girls basketball program has made me more confident, dedicated, and determined,” she said.
Gokey plans to major in either forensic chemistry or forensic and investigative science.
“I hope that I continue to grow as a person and player throughout my college basketball career and that I let my love of the game shine through every time I step on the court,” she added.
