The boys basketball season recently ended, but not before the Tritons made history.
Last year’s team made program history by making it to the sectional semifinal game where they fell to the Papermakers of Hortonville.
For the first time ever, this year’s team reached the sectional championship thanks to Drew Siudzinski’s buzzer-beater three-pointer that allowed them a win over conference opponent Pulaski in the sectional semi-finals.
“It was a special win, crazy, but a win,” senior Adam Guyette explained. “Drew had a great look and was able to knock it down. Leo did a great job of finding him. Emotions were all over the place. I had confidence that we were going to pull it out, but looking back, that could have been us seniors last game,” he continued.
“That last win wasn’t like any others we had all season. We all knew what it meant for the program and for it to come down to such a clutch moment like that is just so surreal. Everybody including fans and parents were just ecstatic after the game. We will never forget that game,” added Siudzinski.
In the sectional championship, the boys matched up against third-seeded Cedarburg. Unfortunately, the game did not go the way the Tritons had hoped, and it ended with a losing score of 69-86.
Despite the loss, the team was proud of their accomplishments and had all good things to say about the season.
This team’s chemistry and dedication were highlighted throughout the season.
“It is a testament to all the hard work and effort that we put in together. Starting with workouts and games in the summer, then into fall, and it continued during the season. Everyone had their role, and everyone had their sacrifices, and that is what made us historic,” Guyette explained.
“The atmosphere at practice, team bonding, team dinners, et cetera that we had as a team were my favorite. We were all super connected and happy to be there every day. I think that we had almost everyone back from last year had a huge impact on how we competed in practice and how that translated to the game,” noted Siudzinski.
In some final remarks, Guyette said, “This was a great year, and I would not trade it for anything. I loved going to practice every day and being with the guys. I am extremely happy that we could pull it off, and create history for the NDA Boys Basketball program.”
