Mrs. Hailey Anderson, math teacher and head coach for women’s lacrosse, is an important leader in the school community.
Anderson’s goals inside the classroom and out on the lacrosse field are focused on bettering young minds–whether it’s helping her students find new ways to figure out equations or teaching new players how to cradle their lacrosse stick.
“I have always loved helping others,” said Anderson about her passion to aid her students and players.
Anderson, originally from Chicago, attended Regina Dominican High School. She then went on to graduate form Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Lastly, she earned her masters degree from the University of Northern Iowa.
Teaching has been in Anderson’s sights since pre-k.
“I love working with students and helping them find success in learning something new,” said the teacher/coach.
Anderson not only played but also began coaching lacrosse in high school. Her coach set her up to coaching a youth group.
Anderson shares a full-circle moment where she got to go back to her high school to coach after graduating college. “I was coaching a player from the youth team,” she explained.
The girls lacrosse season started this past week, but the off-season efforts were non-stop with open gyms and lifts. Accompanied by her assistant coach, Anderson attended a coaches clinic where the coaches were able to learn new drills and techniques to better their teams.
Taking care of logistics, learning new drills, working with team captains, and finding ways to excite her team have all been part of the build-up to the season.
“I am very excited for this season. I expect that we are going to have a good season as we have grown the program over the last few years,”said the head coach.
With the end goal of making it to the state lacrosse championship, Anderson balances a busy schedule of being a new mother, teacher, head coach and valued Notre Dame Academy community member.
