“In 5-10 years I see myself professionally teaching science at NDA, but I would also love to coach sports of some sort,” said Mr. Noah Rasmussen, who often frequents NDA as a substitute teacher.
Rasmussen is originally from Menasha, graduating from Menasha High School in 2013.
He went to college at UW-LaCrosse, studied biology and graduated in 2017. Since then he has lived in Madison, Green Bay, Camp Verde in Arizona, and Kimberly.
“I really love being a teacher,” said Rasmussen. “It is an honor to be able to help students realize their full potential, and I love to see the ‘Aha” moment on their face when I help them figure out a problem they have been struggling with.”
The idea of teaching came from a couple of really good friends who helped him realize that he should be a teacher.
Rasmussen’s friends, such as NDA’s Molly Schroeder, urged him to be a substitute teacher, and once he finally listened to them, he realized how much he enjoyed teaching.
Mrs. Schroeder and Rasmussen’s wife have been friends since they were in middle school.
Ultimately the Schroeders and Rsmussens were all friends at UW-Lacrosse.
“My favorite part about Notre Dame is that I really enjoy how dedicated everyone here is to their work, both teachers and students, and that the students here take their education seriously,” said Rasmussen.
Although he and his wife do not yet have children, they do have a red goldendoodle named Gregg that “is very chill, and very goofy and loves hiking, especially in the snow.”
A fun fact about Rasmussen is that he and his wife went to the very first concert in the Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Phoenix.
“My wife was more excited to see the concert, but not by much,” said Rasmussen.
Some other hobbies include playing volleyball and golf and other outside activities like fishing, especially ice fishing, and hiking and biking.
