Graduation Day 2026 began with Mass, followed by the commencement ceremony itself, time with family and friends and an evening of games, food and raffle prizes at the senior send-off organized by senior parents, Alumni Coordinator Eliza Campbell and Nicole Hunter.
To say the day, Saturday, May 23, was special is an understatement. A packed Triton Center and 183 seniors will never forget it.
Abbot Bradley Vanden Branden, who once served as a chaplain at NDA, was the principal celebrant for Mass and centered his homily around the “mother” of Notre Dame. He emphasized Mary’s presence with the disciples gathered together on Pentecost and taught graduates (as well as the entire gym of attendees) the Latin meaning of “alma mater” and reminded the Class of 2026 to never forget Mary’s presence as their “nourishing mother.”
Director of Activities Jen Laaksonen served as the master of ceremonies for the graduation ceremony. As is the tradition at NDA, Vice Principal Greg Masarik read the names of graduates and Principal Andrea Hearden and President Amy Ott distributed diplomas.
Student speakers for the graduation ceremony were Audrey Owusu and Isabelle Fergus. Under the direction of Steve Johnson, the NDA Band and the NDA Choir, directed by Maria Hinnendael, provided music for both Mass and commencement.
