When the Unexpected takes Place
I expected the trip to be great.
I expected the plane to be long.
I expected to have fun with my hosts.
I expected to swim on the shore.
I expected to eat lots of fruits.
I expected to rest all the time.
I expected to read a whole book.
I expected to shop all around.
I expected to forget about school.
I expected to get really tanned.
I expected to have lots of fun.
What I didn’t expect, though,
was for my Nanna to fall to the ground!

Seven Days Before a Blizzard
Day one was a fast realization of days to come,
My hair is done up and bleached for the day.
Day two was a challenge of roads that were new,
A trip to the mall with friends and drivethrough experience.
Day three was a time for being inside,
Someone came over and fun was engaged.
Day four was a blur of nothing at all,
There is no recall in my brain and definitely none from pain.
Day five was a familiar encounter,
Now two people came over and the night got carried away.
Day six was a call on my phone,
Sleepover with my cousin and a cake that was baked.
Day seven was a start for flurries of snow which was barely a threat,
I mocked the idea and Elsa came to let me know.

“I can’t believe it’s already spring break!” I exclaimed.
“You always have it early, but this is way too early,” remarked my mom.
This year’s spring break was quite early, but it was filled with fun. Monday was something long awaited, and I got a hairstyle change. Tuesday I learned the way around the streets and figured out the way to the mall. It was also the first day I’d driven multiple people around. Wednesday was a usual day of staying in and having someone over, so boredom wouldn’t set in. Thursday that boredom did set in, and nothing happened. Friday was quite exciting with multiple people coming over, and an intense boardgame battle happened. Saturday, boredom set in once again. It was quickly remedied by having my cousin over and baking a cake. On Sunday, the snow had started and things were finally still in the house. Over the break I realized that if I’d gone anywhere else, I wouldn’t have gotten such a fun-filled experience.

A Spring Break to Remember
My trip to Hawaii started amazingly
My trip to Hawaii was a great getaway
My trip to Hawaii allowed me to reset myself for the week
My trip to Hawaii made my family closer together
My trip to Hawaii, I learned how to surf, and I got up every time, but I fell one time.
My trip to Hawaii, I got to golf 18 holes with my dad, and I shot an 89
My trip to Hawaii, I saw whales and even saw a breeching
My trip to Hawaii, I snorkeled in the Molokini Crater, and I saw so many colorful fish
My trip to Hawaii took a turn on the fifth day, when a Kona low storm took over the island.
My trip to Hawaii, the hotel I stayed at was flooded due to all the rain
My trip to Hawaii, my flights got canceled three different times, causing me to not get off the island.
My trip to Hawaii was really fun, but I am happy to be coming back home after five extra days of being stuck in Maui!

A week or so days of social interaction
The first day, I finished my homework to eliminate stress
The second day, I watched TV with my little sister and we ate sugary treats
The third day was much the same as the second
The fourth day, my little sister and I watched a movie in the theaters
The fifth day, my twin and dad were back home after their trip to Nashville.
The sixth day day, I spent a night in Door County with my mom, the air was refreshing
The seventh day, I hung out with my twin and ate popsicles
The eighth day, I went to church in the afternoon, I was dreading the snow that was to come
The ninth day, we were snowed in, it just kept going for hours
The tenth day, I celebrated another day off by staying in bed all morning, unfortunately afterwards, I shoveled two driveways
The eleventh day, I was mentally over my extended break, so I packed my bag for the next day
The twelfth day was refreshing, but my twin was sick, so I drove to school alone

“I am so excited to go to Maui. I have been looking forward to it for months now,” I said to my parents.
“Me too, I needed a getaway from the cold and to escape reality,” my mom said.
“I am excited for adventure and spending time with my wife and my daughter,” my dad replied.
The highlights of my week were surfing because it was something I had always wanted to try. I was very nervous at first because I didn’t know if I would ever be able to catch a wave, but I didn’t give up until I got up. The second highlight was being able to golf in Hawaii with my dad, and I even broke 100 playing 18 holes and finishing with an 89. I had one birdie and several pars along the way, and I was very proud of myself. A positive was that the first part of the trip was really fun, and we got everything done that we had scheduled to do. The challenging new experience, my family was supposed to leave on Friday, but we kept getting cancelled and delayed, which was a mess. My dad was up at all hours of the night on the phone with Delta, and he was trying to see if we could get out earlier, but it wasn’t successful. The issue was that no planes were coming to the island due to the blizzards back home. We were going a little stir crazy, but we didn’t let that take over our positive attitudes.

Sisterly Love
“I am the king of the snow hill,” I did declare.
“Not for long, you scoundrel,” my twin argued back.
There was a scuffle on the ledge, and we both tumbled down. Spring break had felt more like winter break as we neared the end of it. The sky was overcast, and the air was crisp once more. Only a few days earlier I had been breathing in the summer air of the bay.
We were supposed to be shoveling our elderly neighbor’s driveway, but it was hard to break past the snow banks that were as tall as we were. Our arms were already weak from a lack of dinner and shoveling our own driveway. We broke through the densely packed snow before giving up to play baseball with our shovels.
“Throw it this way!” my twin shouted.
I picked up an ice piece and chucked it. The thing exploded with a single swing and was now a new addition to the road. This went on before we decided to work maybe a little more.
The time I spent with my sister only proved a few things that I already knew but perhaps needed a reminder about. Fun can be found and had wherever you are.

Travel Nightmare 2026
The travel nightmare of a snow storm
Flight got canceled
No flights until next week,
Found one at a far-away airport,
Had to drive to that far-away airport,
Had to wait 2 hours for my flight,
Because it got delayed
After making it to Chicago at 11:30 p.m.
Had to wait 8 more hours there
My flight delayed 3 times, plus
they changed our gates 5 times
The plane finally got here
And we made it to Milwaukee
Then had to drive 2 hours home
31 hours of travel nightmare
