Freshman Class President Answers Questions

James Bosco, Staff Writer, Advanced Journalism

In the recent freshman elections Anna Gruesen became Freshman Class President; her involvement in Student Government comes on the heels of her brother who graduated in May and was very involved in the organization.

Q. How have you been influenced by your brother’s involvement in Student Government?

My brother really inspired me to get myself involved with the school as I saw what he was able to accomplish in Student Government as well as in his academics and athletics.  His commitment as a student and athlete has inspired me to work as hard and be just as committed. Seeing what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication is what is inspiring me to work hard and do my best to serve on Student Government.

Q. What are you looking forward to as Freshman Class President?

I am looking forward to meeting new people and becoming directly involved in the many new opportunities related to being the Freshman Class President.  I look forward to being a leader and representing our class to help NDA continue its success in our community.

Q. What made you decide to run?

I decided to run for Class President because I wanted an opportunity to use my leadership skills and listen to others and represent their concerns.

Q. What are your concerns in this new role?

Taking on this new role as the Freshman Class President, my main concern is that students will come up with petitions that I cannot really address as a Freshman Class President.  I will try my absolute best to help accomplish needs that my classmates are concerned with. I will represent the class and bring any issues, concerns or new ideas to administration for consideration.

Q. What issues do you hope to address in this role?

As a freshman, there are no major issues that have come up so far this year.  When an issue comes up that my classmates are concerned with, I hope to be the first person they go to.  I will work extremely hard to help resolve the issue and help keep Notre Dame Academy the wonderful place that it is.

Q. Why should students get involved in Student Government?

Students should get involved in Student Government because it is a great way to meet new people and to participate in many great opportunities.  In Student Government, you are filled with opportunities to become better leaders and help the school. It has only been a couple weeks since I have been a part of Student Government, but so far, I have met so many amazing people that have inspired me to become a better person.
