Mr. Brian Janick, new to NDA, has been teaching chemistry-related classes for over ten years. Here he is teaching Introduction to Chemistry and Physics and Chemistry.
Before coming to Notre Dame, Janick taught at St. Catherine’s High School in Racine, Wisconsin, for 16 years. He also taught at Conner High School in Hebron, Kentucky, for five years and in Tianjin, China, for one year.
Janick, whose son Max is a sophomore at NDA, seems to enjoy having his son at school.
“I can bounce curriculum ideas off him to see what a student thinks,” said Janick.
This school year Max does not have his father as a teacher.
“I enjoy having my dad in school. I believe it is drawing us closer together,” he said.
Helping his son with classwork last year was Janick’s introduction to the chemistry curriculum at NDA.
In discussing the challenges he faces as a new staff member here, Janick said, “The biggest challenge is designing/reorganizing the curriculum at a pace that is faster than the students.”
As a new teacher he is most looking forward to helping students understand their lessons this year.
