“My dad had a student who recommended I join the tech crew. I wasn’t that interested in much of anything, but I joined tech crew and did it all four years,” said Riley Guyette, current UWGB student, NDA graduate and son of math teacher Doug Guyette.
Guyette was involved in numerous productions during his time at NDA, and gives most of the credit to Jake Gerlikovski, also an NDA alum, who heads up the sound and lighting crews at school.
“I would consider Jake a mentor. He helped me find the audio production major at UWGB,” said Guyette.
He was part of the inaugural class that started The Morning Show at Notre Dame. During his time in high school he also played a major role in the productions of the musicals.
“The biggest role I had was controlling the soundboard during The Little Mermaid. You really have to know the show by heart to do that,” said Guyette.
Guyette is currently a sophomore at UWGB and is quickly getting more opportunities to expand his career. He stated that he has enrolled in a number of music classes to help get familiar with the profession he pursues.
“I’ve been enjoying it so far,” he said.
Armed with the knowledge of IB English classes and experience with the tech crew, there is no denying that the future for Guyette is as bright as the spotlight he often has to man.
