High expectations have been set in place for the NDA baseball team as they start their 2025 season.
“We are looking to compete for a conference championship as the only Division 2 school in a Division 1 conference,” said Head Coach Jared Barker.
The WIAA allows baseball teams to have an optional week before the official start of the season when pitchers and catchers report for arm care and conditioning. This started during the week of March 17.
The team’s first game was scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, at Shawano, a non-conference battle. Thursday, April 3, the team lost to Appleton North at Capitol Credit Union Park.
The team has two returning all-conference players from last year –seniors Christian Collins (outfield) and Drew Siudzinski (third base).
“Both are looking to lead and carry this year’s team as we compete for a conference championship and make a deep run into the playoffs,” said Barker.
Last year the team’s record was 22-7. They won their third consecutive regional championship.
This year, however, the team is predicted to place 6th in the conference. Despite where they finish in the conference, there is always a chance at state.
The team’s season extends past the school year with playoffs starting May 29.
