Final Exams Begin May 25

For the first time since December 2019, Notre Dame will be hosting in-person final exams.

Kicking off the week of May 24, all students will be required to return to school in person to take their final exams.

The move represents one more step toward normalcy as the 2020-2021 school year fades into summer.

On Tuesday, exams will begin for periods 1, 2 and 6, followed by periods 3, 4 and 5 on Wednesday and 8 and 7 on Thursday.

“By finishing the year with in-person final exams…we are taking one more step towards returning to a normal school year next fall,” explained Principal Patrick Browne.

“The challenge of education is that by its very nature it is stressful.  By taking exams at the high school level and successfully meeting this challenge, students will be a better position to be successful with exams at both the university and professional licensing level,” he continued.

Exam days, like all other days at Notre Dame, will start at 8:00 a.m.

Students are to report to the classroom of their first exam each day, not their advisory, starting Tuesday morning.

Exam periods will be 75 minutes each, with school dismissing at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Students with a study hall to start the day are not required to report to school until their first exam period.

If a student is in the school building but not taking an exam, they are required to be in the commons study area.

The school uniform, like in years passed, will not be required for exam week.

A lunch period will not be built into the exam-day schedule, but Konop will be offering limited services before and after the school day as well as in between exams.

The school year will officially end at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.
