The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a non-profit organization focusing on the mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Notre Dame Academy students Sean Huss, Isabelle Fergus and Max Janick are a part of this society. Huss and Fergus are both juniors. Janick is a sophomore.
“Our fundraising efforts are not part of any service project of ours. This campaign is something we chose to do, so we could make a real difference,” explained Huss.
As donations are always appreciated, spreading awareness and giving support to those with blood cancer is most important.
The three student visionaries from NDA are currently raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to fight against blood cancers through a seven-week fundraising challenge. This challenge entails teams of high school students campaigning to raise the most money to earn the title of Student Visionary of the Year.
In order to become a visionary you must be nominated by a previous candidate. Senior Greta Fangman was the previous visionary who nominated the three in place now.
“This campaign is especially important to me, but also important for all the families who have gone through things that nobody can even imagine,” said Fergus, providing personal insight into the importance of an organization like LLS.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is an important campaign that can make a true difference in someone’s life. Ways you can support are through the society’s website, lls.org.
“We all have one goal in mind: A world without blood cancer,” explained Fergus.
