Notre Dame Academy will celebrate their state championship football team on Wednesday, December 11, in the Triton Center, according to Athletic Director Matt Koenig. The school will be on an advisory schedule with the assembly after second hour.
The event will include several NDA speakers, starting with Father Jordan, who will introduce the recognition ceremony with prayer. The NDA band will perform, and veteran announcer Mike McKenna will, in the words of Koenig, “get the crowd going.”
The mayor of Green Bay (Premontre Academy graduate Eric Genrich) will make the official proclamation of the day’s significance by citing all the accomplishments of the team.
Parents of NDA football players will be able to attend, as well as all of the student body. A few of the NDA football players will be chosen to speak and share how NDA football impacted their life.
To celebrate even further, NDA athletic director Matthew Koenig requested that the Walnut Street Bridge be lit up green and blue to represent NDA football.
“To win a state championship is the end goal for every athlete. It proves you are the best in the state,” said Koenig when explaining the plans for the ceremony with the Journalism I class.
