Notre Dame Academy’s Trap Team will be starting back up this spring with a new set of advisers.
Trap is a sport of shooting at clay targets as they travel through the air coming out of the trap house, a motorized enclosure where the clay targets are released from.
This year’s advisors are senior Mary Sullivan’s parents, Tom and Cindy Sullivan. They have taken over the spring sport from last year’s advisers Stan and Erin Blakney.
The group of boys and girls shoots on Monday nights throughout the spring at New Franken Sportsman’s Club.
There is no competition with other schools unless students decide they would like to attend the State Tournament which is held in Rome, Wisconsin, in early June.
Students compete against each other for competition weeks, and their scores are averaged for the participants to have the opportunity to Varsity Letter at the end of the season.
Participants won’t necessarily be taught how to shoot, but the advisors and scorers will be there to give helpful tips and pointers on the range.
In order to shoot, students are required to complete a Hunter Safety course or a Clay Target Trap course.
If interested, students can reach out to Frau or [email protected] to get more information.
