Boys Lacrosse Season Begins After Spring Break

Boys Lacrosse Season Begins After Spring Break

The boys lacrosse team will start practice March 11 with season play beginning that same week. The season will go well into May.

NDA alum Michael Hinkfuss has been coaching the boys lacrosse team for five years now.

Playing at NDA, Hinkfuss fell in love with the sport and continues to spread his knowledge of the game by coaching.

“I can’t wait to see what this team, and these players, do this year.” said Coach Hinkfuss about his expectations for the upcoming season.

A noticeable popularity increase has spiked in recent years with boys and girls lacrosse. According to SPG (Sports Planning Guide), lacrosse participation in the U.S. has increased by 218% within 2001 and 2014.

Its popularity has only gone up since then.

The team and coaches have high expectations and high excitement for this year’s season.

“We are really excited, we have a lot of new people playing and some old people coming back… I have high hopes for the season,” said junior Nick Gruesen, lacrosse player.

“I’m looking forward to the season since it’s now a WIAA sport.  Along with that, we’re in the running for a conference championship next year,” said Deacon Hozeska, junior.
