Aristana Hinz, who has written for the Online Tritonian and the NDA Magazine, will be the editor-in-chief of the newspaper for the upcoming school year, announced adviser Carolyn Brown.

She succeeds Mason Tumpach, who graduated and will be attending UW-Madison in the fall.

“We have several outstanding journalists who write for the Online Tritonian, but Ari goes beyond expectations. She is not only a good writer but a reliable writer who gets her stories in on time and usually does more than the required weekly story,” said the adviser.

“I actually had to persuade her to take the job,” continued Brown. “Ari loves to write sports stories, and I think she was concerned she wouldn’t be able to do her two or three sports stories a week.”

“When I was asked, I didn’t know right away if I wanted to fill the position.,” said Hinz. “I eventually decided that I would. I’m excited to take on this role and do my best to make the Tritonian look the best it can!”

“As editor-in-chief she will have adviser access to the website to add photos and videos. I edit the stories our reporters turn in, but young people like Ari are savvy about cropping pictures, making videos into YouTube videos and just generally doing all the techie stuff that drives me crazy,” continued Brown.

Hinz has already been tutored by Tumpach and is adding pictures to the online site.

“Ari was in Journalism class and then my Creative Writing class. She is a worker, a learner, and a reporter in Advanced Journalism whose stories were never late or shallow. I appreciate that reliability and look forward to our year together,” said Brown.
