Two Student Teachers Observing, Learning at NDA

Mrs. Katherine Beres, a student teacher observing and learning from Mrs. Eileen Montgomery, answered a few questions for the Online Tritonian about her past work and plans for the future.  In the words of one staff member, “Student teachers play an important role at our school, so it is important for us to get to know them and make them feel welcome.”

Q: What teaching field or what degree are you working towards?

A: Certification in Business. I am working toward a Master’s Degree but no specialty area has been chosen yet.   

Q: What college are you currently attending?

A: Concordia University on the Mequon and Appleton campuses.

 

Q: Have you enjoyed being a student teacher at Notre Dame so far? If so, what have you liked about it? If not, why?

A: Yes, Mrs. Montgomery is the best. I was a student here myself and love to see some old faces. I also enjoy all the students and getting to help them.  

Q: What jobs or careers have you had before becoming a student teacher?

A: In my last job I worked in Human Resources for Brown County. I also worked at Greatland Corporation and dealt with tax software and forms.  

 

Q: Have you been a student teacher at any other schools prior to Notre Dame?

A: I was an observation student at Southwest, West, Parkview Elementary, Lombardi and Cormier.  

 

Another student teacher observing and learning at NDA this semester is Ms. Megan Griffith, who spends her days with French teacher Natasha Geyer, known to NDA students as Madame.

Q: What teaching field or degree are you planning to acquire?

A: French.

Q: What college are you currently attending?

A: St. Norbert College

 

Q:  Have you enjoyed being a student teacher at Noter Dame so far? If so what have you liked about it?If not why?

A: Yes, I’ve enjoyed being her because the students are wonderful.

 

Q: What jobs or careers have you had before becoming a student teacher?

A: I worked in a summer camp and had two different internships at St. Norbert.

 

Q: Have you been a student teacher at any other schools prior to Notre Dame?

A: No.
